With over two decades of experience in the health and technology industries, I can see evolving trends, opportunities, and challenges with an approachable systems-thinking mindset. As the first line of support in my family for end-of-life planning, I came to realize how fragmented and disconnected the funeral industry is from the human experience of death. Access to the grieving process is determined by timelines set by an industry that sees you as an invoice number. They didn’t see my full-time job, my graduate student coursework, or the never-ending task list you are assigned when someone dies. Through this profound experience, I wanted to create a permanent virtual resting place for videos, photos, and other meaningful tributes for all generations to see. No timelines or deadlines; just a place to come when folks are ready to process the loss.

Give me an idea, a dream, a concept, a user problem to solve and I’ll figure out a way. I’m a curious self-learner who thrives on bold and change-making action. My past experience includes project management, gaining my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, implementing electronic medical record software in hospital systems, integrating new systems to streamline business processes, creating automation for efficiency and cost-savings, mapping user flows and architecting new user experiences. I’ve worked at bootstrapping startups to 1 billion dollar corporations.

Colleen Kinsey

The human mind is an enigma to me. Growing up with a maternal line of medical nurses, open heart surgery and death was a normal dinner conversation. I was introduced to the process of closing an estate with the passing of my grandmothers. A majority of the burden as executor fell on my mother. Who was working a full-time job, being a mom and a person. I want to create a better, less stressful place for those who are grieving a loss.

What I love most is bringing diverse and unique perspectives to the table to solve everyday challenges.

For me, the story of a project and its inception is almost as important as the milestones and wins. The same is true for me with the story of someone’s life. The accomplishments and accolades are just one piece of the tapestry that makes someone’s life rich and textured. As a professional, my next level is to take my talents, gifts, and life experience to transform death into a part of life.
